Church Administration

Bethany is led by a Council (church board) comprised of seven elected representatives from the parish. In addition to the Council members there are three boards

Board of Elders. Are responsible for the spiritual welfare of each member through prayer, study, calling, counseling and the exercise of Church discipline. They promote the sharing of the Good News with Christians and unbelievers through witness training and outreach opportunities. The plan and provide for congregational worship, including leaders, assistants, music and special emphasis. They address the social welfare needs of the members and community in conjunction with agencies for referral and support. They establish means of publicity and public relations so that the congregation is identified with service for the Gospel of Jesus. They supervise congregational organizations and societies for purposes of administrative and program development

Board of Stewards. The basic objective of the Board is to support the work of Christ’s Kingdom through the Gospel-motivated, proportionate, first-fruits giving to God of our time, talents and treasures. It is their responsibility to share with its members the Scriptural principles regarding stewardship calling of the Christian—as a member of his family, community and Church. They are to help the congregation to discover their spiritual gifts, talent and abilities and provide opportunities for commitment, training and service. They review all unsolicited gifts and fund appeals and take appropriate action or make recommendations to the Voters Assembly. They supervise the counting, recording and deposit of all gifts and issuing of quarterly statements. Along with the treasurer, they see that the financial affairs of the congregation are managed soundly.

Board of Trustees. The basic objective of the Board is that they protect and improve the material assets with which God has blessed the congregation for the work of Gospel ministry. They are responsible for providing the purchase, inspection, inventory, maintenance and repair of all congregation’s property, facilities and equipment. They are to protect the congregation against loss, damage, and liability through prevention and insurance. They are to engage and supervise all custodial services. They are to establish policies, rules and fees governing the use of the facilities and equipment. They are to represent the congregation in legal matters and contracts.

How one can be involved in the administration of Bethany:

Officers and Boards: This group of individuals is elected to oversee the operations and ministries of the church. Elections are held every two years at the May Voters Assembly.

Counters/Helpers: The chairman of the Board of Stewards oversees this group of volunteers who assist him/her by counting the Sunday offering and submitting the data to the treasurer who in turn records the data into the computer to ensure that our records are carefully maintained.
